Using this filter in a starter turtle tank (20 gallon long) and two small yellow-belied sliders about the size of a silver-dollar, this filter was good for about two days before we had to change the water in the tank.
It may be better suited for small fish, but this filter will NOT keep up with turtle waste.
To be fair, we added a second filter, (same model) and even two filters couldn't keep up. I do not recommend this filter for turtles at all.
