Nu-Clear 500 Series Modular Canister Filters provide the ultimate in aquatic life support systems for consumer and commercial fresh and salt water aquariums, fountains, or ponds. With several mechanical, chemical and biological options to choose from, Nu-Clear filters have the flexibility to fit all your aquarium and pond applications. The different models may be used on their own or in combination with other models to provide the ultimate in filtration systems. The Nu-Clear 500 Series Modular Canister Filters are appropriate for aquariums 50 gallons and up for ponds 300 gallons and up.
Nu-Clear Model 566 is perfect for absorbing water yellowing compounds and dissolved organics in aquariums or ponds with a large biological load. Includes seven pounds of pre-bagged premium Inland Seas Marine and Reef Activated Carbon.
Other Features:
- Heavy duty molded PVC construction with a stainless steel lid clamp for secure leak free operation.
- Filter bodies are approximately 13" wide and 12.5" tall (overall width with fittings is 15”). An additional clearance of 8” above the filter is required to remove the cartridge for cleaning.
- Can be used with the Model 1566 Extension Kit to double the filtering capacity.
- 1" FNPT inlet and outlet ports allowing for higher flow rates (up to 1,200 gallons/hr) than similar filters with 3/4” ports.
- All models come with adapters for 3/4" and 1" hose, stainless steel hose clamps, Teflon tape, and a drain valve.
- Does not include pump, hose or a method for connecting the filter to your tank. We highly recommend using the Inland Sea Suctions and Returns with the Nu-Clear Filters.

Optional: Nu-Clear 500 Series Filter Extension Kits
These kits double the height of the Nu-Clear filters, allowing the use of two cartridges. Double the amount of Bio Media or carbon, etc. All extension kits include the body extensions, stainless steel band clamp, 1" mpt port plug, and a cartridge coupler (if required). Extensions kits include a plug for the redundant inlet on the bottom filter. It is not recommended to mix different types of cartridges or media. Only use the Model 566 with the 1566 Extension Kit.
