Smooth quiet operation would be the best comment to make about this filtration type. It does provide adequate water flow, but personally I think the manufacturer overrates the filtration capacity. This unit functions a bit better than the penguin line, but the whole idea of the bio-wheel is nothing more than a gimmick in my opinion. The bio-wheel regularly binds up and does not rotate. It would be more beneficial for the bacteria, and the wheel if they added an airline to bolster the movement, and to aid in the growth of beneficial bacteria. On a positive note, - if you combine this with other filters, (say a canister filter) it makes an excellent way to polish your water.
