SeaClone 100 Protein Skimmer

Overall Rating:

Superior turbo-venturi skimming system for efficient removal of dissolved organics and waste from aquariums up to 100 gallons. The exclusive turbo-venturi injector system mixes filtered water and air in the pump impeller chamber, generating a froth of micro-bubbles for maximum skimming and improved gas exchange.

Air and water swirl together in the vortex reaction chamber, creating a powerful tornado effect that rapidly draws dissolved wastes from aquarium water. Protein-laden bubbles are propelled upward, where they are trapped in a large capacity collection cup, which requires less emptying. Comes with a Maxi-Jet 1200 pump.

Ideal for external hang-on or in-sump installation. Hang-on installation will required 4" clearance between tank edge and wall. In-sump installation requires 20" clearance betwen bottom of sump and underside of aquarium base. Easy installation, easy operation. Comes with everything needed to set up and operate. No airstones are needed.

Clean foam cartridge weekly or sooner if clogged or dirty.

This just a very average skimmer that can be found at most traditional pet stores because it's made by Marineland. The Seaclone is ok, but not great. Just a beginner Protein Skimmer in my opinion. You may also want to look at the model 150. The model 100 is good for tanks up to 50 gallons.

Very weak perforance, needs constant adjustments, not worth the effort. Skims very little. Even though it is not expensive, don't waste your money. You will get very little skimming out of it.

When I 1st started in the hobby, I was told not to buy a skilter filter, but to buy this one. As my 1st skimmer I thought it was doing well. Then I was given a Lee's counter current, cheap bubble up skimmer. That performed better then this one. There are some MODs you can do to improve this skimmer, however it still is a poor choice. Skimmers are something to invest in, and if you want this one you are just wasting money. the only skimmer that you can save a little on is the CLS, those perform well, and are on the cheap side.
Do not waste your time or money on this skimmer
